About us


Strand restaurant is located just 15 min from Oslo city centre. The beautiful villa which houses the restaurant is a listed historical building surrounded by a parkland area and has magnificent views over Oslo fjord. The property was totally refurbished and opened to the public in 2010.
Tom Victor Gausdal and Stian Floer have worked tirelessly together with Bærum Council to restore this beatuful building to its former glory and take it to new culinary hights.
The original building has rich history and tradition dating back 2 centuries and has been used for countless weddings, christenings and other events and holds a special place in the hearts of the local residents.
At present the building houses a bakery, restaurant, banquet halls and open terrace. In the immediate surroundings are a number of sculptures by Joseph Grimeland as well an antique iron pavillion.
The local harbour can also be used by our guests who wish to arrive by boat.
At present, Strand restaurant is a member of the LAVA group which focuses on clean, natural ingredients. Where possible we offer organic produce but above all is our determination to work with suppliers who are passionate about what they produce and how it is produced.
All our employees are keen to emphasise that Strand is about quality in all aspects!

The kitchen at Strand is built up with focus on clean, natural and seasonal ingredients. We work closely with our suppliers to ensure that we get top quality seasonal produce. Where possible we use organic and locally sourced ingredients.

Our Head Chef, Kim-Daniel Norbom, works together with Tom Victor Gausdal to create our weekly seasonal menu.
Lunches at Strand can be enjoyed daily, Tuesday to Saturday 12-17:00. Our evening menu is served from 17:00. On Sundays we offer our lunch menu during the whole day, and a 3 course daily menu by choice of the Chefs.

Our head sommelier Emilio Javier Alami and general manager Madelene Wiklund has together composed a wine list consisting of some of the world´s best producers specializing in Organic and Biodynamic wine production. What is important for us is that the wines are of top quality, representative of their terroir and made by people who care about the environment. Wine for us is made of 100% grapes.




At Strand we can offer four beautiful banquetting rooms which can be used for a wide variety of events.

For one of your most important days we provide alomst unlimeted choices in how you want to celebrate. We work closely with you throughout the process to ensure that we exceed your expectations. The kitchen prepares a choice of specially prepared menus based on the best seasonal ingredients which are perfectly paired with wines from our extensive wine list.

We have a number of rooms which can be adapted to suit your profesional needs as well as provide top quality food when needed. All rooms have the necessary Audio-visual equipment to facilitate your meetings.

Parties & Events
We cater for almost all conceivable events and parties. You can choose the room that suits your needs best together with the food and drink for most tastes and budgets.

Our Rooms

Ballsalen is our largest room located on the first floor with beatiful 180 degree views over the marina and adjacent park. It can accomodate up to approx. 120 guests. The room has integrated Audio-visual equipment.
Fotoroom is best for parties up to 16 people. The room has Audio-visual equipment.
White room is our smallest room for meetings and small parties of up to 10 people. The room has Audio-visual equipment.
Festsalen is located on the second floor with views over the marina and can accommodate 20-60 people. The room has integrated Audio-visual equipment.
